All crazy about the Butterfly House: thousands in line to visit the Palazzo Riso installation
All crazy about the Butterfly House. Thousands of adults and children alike have flocked to the Palazzo Riso every weekend in Sicily to immerse themselves in the tropical paradise installed in the garden. Inaugurated Thursday, February 14th, the structure registered a great turnout. A spring more than anticipated in the Sicilian capital that will color until mid-June the amazing nuances of hundreds of butterflies, including very special species, including the “Papilionidae”, family of butterflies often large and colorful. There are also rare and characteristic insects.
Touched by the magical touch of flying butterflies, the great kids return, while the little ones are astonished as in the most beautiful of fairy tales. An extraordinary success, as anticipated also by the many bookings by school groups and groups that every day, until mid-June, will visit the house. And surprise in the surprise for visitors, on the occasion of the Butterfly House, it is possible to admire a small exhibition of the important zoological collections normally kept at the Palazzo d’Aumale Museum in Terrasini, which were transferred during the period of the Casa at Palazzo Riso.
The butterflies and the urban tropical paradise designed by Enzo Scarso
This is the general entomological collection, the largest for the number of preserved specimens, which includes six collections, made by as many collectors, more than 1,200 boxes with over 200 thousand specimens, belonging to about 5 thousand different species of colorful butterflies and moths, crickets and mantids, bees and dragonflies, bugs and ladybugs and many other insects, expressing the European, African and South American biodiversity. It is also part of the entomological collection of Prince Raniero Alliata of Pietratagliata, consisting of almost 450 boxes, unique in its kind all over the world for exposure modes because each object has its own place responding to specific taxonomic and scientific rules or inserted into models of intraspecific variability. Great satisfaction from the director of the Regional Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Valeria Patrizia Li Vigni and the creator of the project of Casa Farfalle Palermo, Enzo Scarso di BuattaLab. Many initiatives planned, such as educational workshops for children and young people that will allow you to live the house through play and learning. The Butterfly House will remain open until June 14th.
Once again Palermo is staged with a cultural initiative of unique charm, this to show that the Sicilian capital today, full of events, turns an eye to all those events that can give a cultural and artistic growth to the city
